Coach mentoring
Here you’ll find information on coach mentoring and next steps.
Ideally you are a coach who is serious about wanting to be the best possible coach for your clients. I have coach mentored professional coaches since 2007. As a coach you could be working as an independent or an ‘internal’ coach within an organisation.
There are different meanings of mentor coaching across the coaching profession.
Mentor coaching with me covers:
- coaching skills development including 'observed' coaching with feedback
- personal coaching
- business development
Credentialing requirements for the International Coach Federation (ICF) 'mentor coaching' consists of observed coaching and feedback on the presence or absence of the ICF core competencies in a coaching session. The requirement is 10 hours of mentor coaching of which at least 6 must be on your coaching skills.
If you are working towards ICF accreditation either via a coach training school or direct to ICF, I provide 10 hours of mentor coaching including a reference letter. I encourage you to record some of your own coaching sessions and we listen and discuss. There is also the possibility of coaching me within a session.
If you can form a group of 3-4 coaches then group mentoring is an option. This can be a cost-effective option.
For a coach starting out, I recommend an emphasis on coaching skills development (mentor coaching) and then adding supervision (reflective practise) once you have regular clients.

Claire is an exceptional coach. I gained my ACC qualification with scores above the ACC level. I learnt so much about myself as a coach & came away far more confident in my ability.

Through mentor coaching with Claire, she supported me in making several important shifts, including moving from my being "a coach-in-training" to "a coach" and from providing only pro-bono coaching to paid coaching. She also helped me to develop my own coaching skills, particularly in the area of letting the direction of the session fully come from the client. I thoroughly enjoyed her positive energy on every call. Thank you, Claire.

Claire is a very intuitive coach and mentor who is able to sense what is going on for her coachee by listening to and grasping the slightest nuances. She also is a good ICF mentor and contributed considerably to my re-accreditation.

Thank you for all your support and sharing your wisdom with me. You’ve made a tremendous impact on me as a coach. You were the first mentor who made me stronger as a ICF Poland Leader and professional coach. It was long journey but worth it.
Excellent at surfacing useful insights Beverly Landais, PCC – www.beverlylandais.co.uk · 14 August 2020

Claire coach mentored me as I worked towards achieving Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation during 2018. Her supporting yet challenging approach was exactly right for me. Having achieved PCC, I continued being mentored by Claire during 2019 and into 2020. She is highly experienced as a coach mentor and supervisor. Claire is good at seeing beyond the obvious and excellent at surfacing useful insights which I can take away and develop for myself.
